The Late Loomers

So we finally caught up with the loombandwagon and I know we are pretty much late for it. Lol.

While I was just starting with fishtails and other easy ones, Mr. T jumped straight up to the challenging ones. He actually turned out to be more interested in it than I am. Nuninuninu. :D

My favorite go-to site for tutorials is Loom Love. It is a website of two adorable sisters named Maddie and Emily. They show a lot of pattern tutorials, from charms to bracelets and more. They also share tutorials from other websites. They're super cute. :)

Mr. T just searches videos in Youtube where a lot of tutorials are also available. You can also checkout the Official Rainbow Loom Channel for other instructional videos.

Anyways, we used the cheaper types of rubber bands in majority of these bracelets but we eventually got some original Rainbowloom refills. And I will quickly show you the difference between the two.

Original Rainbow Loom Band vs. Cheaper Version
Original C-clip vs. Cheaper S-clip version

Original Rainbow Looms Cheaper Version
Clean and smooth cuts around the edges.
Uneven and squared cut around the edges.
Uniform size of the bands.
Sizes vary.
Thicker and sturdier and retracts to original size after stretching.
Thinner and more elastic thus more prone to breaking and looses elasticity faster.
C-clip type of closure.
S-clip type of closure.
179.75Php for a pack of 600 bands including 24 C-clips.
A typical pack of 30.00Php usually has 150-200 bands with 5 S-clips.

You can use either type if you're not too picky but the original one really do make better-looking bands.

For us, the best place to get the cheaper versions of Rainbow Loom products would be Regina's in Greenhills. If you are familiar with that little corner store, then you know it's a treasure trove of almost anything you can think about, so it's not surprising to find looms there. They used to have just a few boxes and packs but eventually, they added more and dedicated an entire rack just for looms.

Meanwhile, you can get original Rainbowloom products in Toy Kingdom, Toys R Us and Rustans branches. You can also order online at Rainbow Loom's Official Philippine website. The only disadvantage with the original refills is that they get sold out pretty quickly and the opaque packs in typical colors are the only ones left. I've been looking for the Mixed Pink Camouflage but I can't find them anywhere, even from straight from Rainbow Loom's website. If you know any leads on how I can get a pack or two, please let me know. :)

And finally, let me share some of the bands we've made so far. :)

Note: Looms (original or not) are potentially dangerous for infants, young children and pets. Make sure they are under adult supervision everytime they work on them. Properly keep your looms after use and keep them safely out of reach of children and pets.
